The Asian American and Pacific Islanders Caucus of the North Carolina Democratic Party firmly condemns President Biden’s decision to bar undocumented immigrants from being able to obtain asylum.

As a community made up of immigrants, we are intimately familiar with the complexities of the U.S. immigration process, which is riddled with barriers that introduce additional unnecessary challenges to the process of obtaining refugee status.

As this Executive Order would only further endanger asylum-seekers, the AAPI Caucus demands its immediate reversal and an expression of commitment to immigrant communities across the country.
